Vostok 1 was a Soviet Vostok Program spacecraft that served with the Soviet Space Agency in the mid-20th century. In 1961, Vostok 1 carried the first Human in space, the Russian Yuri Gagarin. It made a single revolution around the Earth. Its successful mission kept the U.S.S.R. in the lead of the "space race". During its flight it conducted radio and television broadcast with Earth.
