The Rho-class shuttle was one of the precursors to the Lambda-class shuttles which were produced during the time of the Galactic Republic. A great many of these vessels, of which thousands were made, were scrapped or sold off as surplus to commercial companies during the days of the Old Republic. A few still remained in Imperial hands by the time of the Galactic Civil War, and served in outlying sector fleets of the galaxy. One such ship, the Transorb, was in use by the Rebel Alliance.
