Micah Husak was a government employee working for FEMA. After the Yellowstone Supervolcano eruption, he was assigned to Camp Constitution, a refugee camp just outside the ashfall in Arkansas. He discovered he could indirectly solicit sexual favors from women he found attractive in exchange for carrying out administrative changes for their benefit. His hints were not always successful but enough women responded that he didn't need to make heavy demands on any individual. By the time Vanessa Ferguson came to him to either move Loretta Baker and her three girls or herself, he was well practiced, such that Ferguson had nothing of substance to bring to a supervisor.

  • Micah Husak was a government employee working for FEMA. At first Ferguson refused but then came to an agreement. However, after Ferguson was moved, she backed out of the deal. Husak put pressure on her by moving an even worse family, with four rambunctious little boys, into her new tent. Ferguson couldn't complain too vigorously for fear of being labeled a racist since the family were African-American and so gave in and began having sexual relations with Husak every couple of weeks. The new family was moved out and Ferguson's tent had some semblance of peace. The arrangement was for Ferguson to come to Husak's office, nominally for a pre-arranged appointment, where they would have sex. As one of the perks for Ferguson, Husak let her stay for a while afterwards and use his computer and internet connection. This lasted for approximately the year and a half Ferguson was at Camp Constitution. In the second spring after the eruption, the Arkansas River flooded its banks due to all the volcanic ash that had been swept into it and threatened the camp. It was being evacuated but Ferguson managed to get into a reclamation party authorized by the Abandoned Property Act and work to salvage abandoned goods. She continued to have unpleasant memories of Husak for years afterwards.
