A pretty good description of Craig Finn or The Hold Steady as a whole. Known for their heroic drinking and relentless touring schedules, Craig's lyrics and the band in general are also often adored by music critics. It's also perhaps continuing to refer to John Berryman, who was an alcoholic, depressed, and critically respected at the point of his suicide in Minneapolis. One could even draw inferences from Berryman's status as a founder of Confessional poetry to connect this to the lyrics.
