A total of eight tropical storms developed - seven of them reached hurricane intensity, six of them reached major hurricane intensity, and four of them reached category 5 intensity. Although only 8 tropical cyclones developed, most were intense or devastating. Every tropical storm affected land, and caused at least one fatality. No names were used in this season, and storms were numbered.
