Steve Kingdon was one of eight players promoted from the youth ranks at Rovers into the professional squad at the start of the 2009–10, along with Neikell Plummer, Eliot Richards, Mark Cooper, Ollie Clarke, George Booth, Dan Cayford and Jack McKenna. He was not included in any senior team matchday squads throughout his first season with the club, and manager Paul Trollope elected not to retain his services for the following campaign. Following his release he signed for Southern League side Clevedon Town, where he was appointed club captain.
