Most of Vanessa's fan fiction is is novel(la) length, and predicated on the events of her first story, "Endless Forever Knight", in which Natalie and Nick survive "Last Knight" and acknowledge their love for each other. Referred to at one point as her "denial series", her work may therefore be considered futurefic of a sort; but futurefic integrally predicated on the events of "Ashes to Ashes" and "Last Knight". There is a strong Nick/Nat romantic aspect, complicated by LaCroix's desire to reclaim Nick and Janette's resentment of her returned vampire condition. Some stories have casefic elements; and Nick has a new partner, Greg Melancy, who had been a friend of Natalie's deceased brother, Richard Lambert.
