abstract
  • Sacred wood was a type of wood that was both strong and light. The trees from which the wood could be taken grew in an area of the Forest Moon of Endor where the forest gave way to mountains. Its properties made the material useful to Ewoks for the construction of skin gliders. The Ewoks of Bright Tree Village harvested the wood for many years. The Council of Elders of Bright Tree Village chose a group of three villagers to fell some of the wood with an annointed stone blade during the annual Harvest Ceremony. The Ewok who flew back to the village with the wood received the added honor of performing hang gliding tricks during the ceremony. In 3 ABY, Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka, Teebo, and Wicket W. Warrick undertook the journey to gather sacred wood for Bright Tree. However, when they arrived, they found that simian beings known as Quorks had already cut down the wood. The Quorks captured the Ewoks and demanded they construct a glider for them, but the Ewoks managed to escape with the sacred wood in tow.
