In 1987, James went to work for the Oregon House Democratic Campaign Committee and for then Democratic Majority Leader Carl Hosticka. He next worked on Vera Katz's mayoral campaign in Portland and served eleven years as her Chief of Staff. In 2005, James ran for Mayor for Portland, Oregon, and succeeeded, and served as mayor until the 2007 Poltical Crisis and the collapse of the United States. In Early 2007, Dealey was approached by John Henry Eden, and other polticians to help build the new successor to the US. Eden and Dealey ran for Presidency and Prime Minister in 2007, and became the first President and Prime Minister of the United Commonwealths of America.
