The macroregions (Romanian: macroregiuni) of Romania are the four regional divisions created in Romania in 1998. They correspond to NUTS I-level divisions in European Union member states. Romania's macroregions (as with the development regions) do not actually have an administrative status and do not have a legislative or executive council or government. They only function for collection of regional statistics.
