Although bzip2, and gzip are more commonly used in Linux/Unix and significantly smaller than zip file, Microsoft Windows users tend to prefer the traditional zip file. In a terminal, use the following command (you must install the corresponding package first): zip -9 -y -r -q file.zip folder/ -9 is optional and means better compression.
