Polistes gigas is the largest paper wasp species known and is distinctly different because the male is even larger than the female! Those are qualities that you dont usually see in polistes. This species is not defensive and can be compared with small nests of dominula - they both flee the nest upon disturbance. Although being non-aggressive, i have read that their sting is very painful.
