Verene doesn't lose her Blue Harbor accent when she comes to Corus. She seems to be quite a good singer and has "the prettiest voice in all the Provost's Guard". Verene's mother is a barmaid at Naxen's Fancy, thus she hears a lot of gossip which she passes along to her daughter. That's why Verene has always some new gossip, too. Verene is part of the group that meets regularly in Beka's room for breakfast and a good friend of Beka. It also seems as though she and Phelan Rapp had a sexual relationship. Verene only appears in Terrier and dies in the middle of the novel.
