[1] The Cumberland spaceman is a photo that was taken May 23, 1964 eight miles north of Carlisle England. John Tempelton was an amateur photographer, and some photos of their daughter, Elizabeth. She posed sitting in the grass in the middle of an open, grassy area. They took several work pictures and did not notice anything out of the ordinary. In one of the photos a mysterious spaceman' appeared dressed in white and wearing a helmet. The family did not see anyone else along their walk and it was the only photo to show it. To this day all attempts to explain it have failed. Most have ruled out a hoax. The figure in the backround remains a mystery.
