| - The 1998-99 WPHL season was the 3rd season of the Western Professional Hockey League. The league brought back all twelve teams from the previous season and added francises in Abilene, Texas, Alexandria, Louisiana, Corpus Christi, Texas, Little Rock, Arkansas and Tupelo, Mississippi. The 17 teams each played 69 games including a home game against either Russian Super League sides Chelyabinsk Traktor or Kristall Elektrostal, who were touring the southern United States. The Shreveport Mudbugs finished first overall in the regular season and won their first President's Cup, becoming the first team in WPHL history to win both the regular season and playoff championships in the same season.
