* This is the fourth instance of the Cleveland's Bathtub Gag, although this one was purely an accident. Peter was trying to back his car and the horse wouldn't move and when it did, the car had enough gas so that it crashed into Cleveland's house.
* The horse race sign reads 'TODAY QUAHOG DERBY - TOMORROW TERRENCE TRENT D'ERBY. This is the second Terrance Trent D'Arby reference in season 7 along with "Road to Germany".
* Peter mentions one of past jobs was being Matt Damon's neck. The scene then cuts to Damon with Peter's face on his neck annoying him with his role in Good Will Hunting, calling him "an educated Boston street thug" and his friend Ben Affleck's marriage to Jennifer Garner.
* When Peter first returns home after receiving the gay gene, his voice sounds very similar to Roger from American Dad. This is because Seth MacFarlane voices both characters.
* Peter sits in his apartment, reading Flowers in the Attic and listening to the song "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" from The Sound of Music.
* Peter sweetens his muffins with 'Spugizakom' and drinks a 'Pomtini'.
* Peter had pretended to be gay in "The Son Also Draws".
* When Peter tells Lois that she was married to the retarded man is cut in censored versions.
* In the censored versions, Peter says the horse is brain damaged. During the uncensored version, Peter says the horse is retarded.
* Brian says that Stewie cannot read when trying to refute his homophobic claim. In fact, Stewie can read on an adult level, and has demonstrated the ability to do so on several occasions.
* Peter says this is the first time he has ever been in the owners' box, when in "Screwed the Pooch", he was sitting in the owners' box next to his father-in-law, Carter Pewterschmidt, watching Seabreeze race.
* The Parents Television Council, a watchdog organization and significant critic of Family Guy, filed an FCC complaint against FOX about this episode and specifically cited the 'eleven-way' gay orgy, the consumption of horse semen by Stewie and Peter thinking Lois performs a sexual act on him when his horse is licking his butt.
