KSE eventually regained their designs after the company was reformed in the years following the Battle of Endor.

abstract
  • The Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Light Interceptor is more commonly referred to as the Jedi Starfighter since this vessel was originally used primarily by the Jedi Order prior to the Clone Wars. The starfighter was originally designed and built by Kuat Systems Engineering, but the entire Alpha/Delta/Eta line was sold to Sienar Fleet Systems for a healthy sum of credits. KSE eventually regained their designs after the company was reformed in the years following the Battle of Endor. The starfighter is fitted with two twin-barrel laser cannons, allowing the pilot to fight when necessary. As part of the Republic's Judicial Department, the starfighters owned by the Jedi Order were colored in the red and white hues that represented the diplomatic immunity that the Jedi enjoyed. However, some would end up being painted in other colors as the Clone Wars progressed. The size of the craft does not allow for a factory model astromech droid navigator, instead, astromech droids are integrated directly into the starfighter, with only the droid's truncated heads visible. There are at least two models of these droids, the R3-D series, which is used primarily for targeting, and the R4-P series, which is used more for navigation than targeting. The Aethersprite is considered too small for a hyperdrive and instead relies on other spacecraft or an external hyperdrive ring for faster-than-light travel. Though largely considered a relic of a bygone era, the Delta-7 has lead to some recent innovations. While they still had the design, Sienar Fleet Systems made a brief visit of this ship in order to provide the people of Naboo with a choice between two potential starfighters to serve as their patrol craft. However, the Queen would end up relying on the new N-2 Fighter instead, which was also designed by Sienar’s Research and Development department.
