The Kaplowey Scroll was an item that Clumsy had found in an underground wizard's chamber hidden in the Smurf forest in the cartoon show episode "The Kaplowey Scroll". The words on the scroll were written in an ancient language that Papa Smurf had to figure out. Eventually Papa Smurf discovered it and found that it started with the word "kaplowey"...though the instant he said "kaplowey", it caused Sloppy's pet Fly to disappear. The rest of the message reads: Powerful is he who speaks the magic word, and weep for that at which the magic word is directed against, for it will vanish and be banished from this world, and woe unto him who speaks the magic word in perilous anger.

  • The Kaplowey Scroll was an item that Clumsy had found in an underground wizard's chamber hidden in the Smurf forest in the cartoon show episode "The Kaplowey Scroll". Because of this, Papa Smurf warned his little Smurfs never to speak the magic word. However, some Smurfs couldn't resist using it to get rid of things that were in their way, such as a rock that Farmer had dug up in his fields, a tree root that had tripped up Clumsy when he ran, and a storm cloud over the sky that ruined Smurfette's walk...though it ended up causing more problems than it solved. Brainy had accidentally sneezed the word "kaplowey" when Hefty set down a bag of flour and coated Brainy's face with flour, thus making the bag of flour disappear. The worst came when Jokey played a prank on Grouchy, causing him to be so angry with Jokey that he blurted out "kaplowey" and made Jokey disappear. Meanwhile, Papa Smurf tried to find a way to reverse the effects of the Kaplowey Scroll, but with no success. It was after Jokey's disappearance that Papa Smurf decided that they should put the scroll back where they found it. However, as Clumsy went back into the wizard's chamber, Gargamel was already there waiting to get his hands on the scroll. As he couldn't figure out what language the scroll was written in, the evil wizard took it back to his castle to study it through his books. Then Papa Smurf was inspired with the idea that they should use the magic word against the scroll, and so headed back to the chamber only to find that the scroll is gone and that Gargamel took it. Realizing how dangerous the scroll would be if Gargamel discovered the use of the magic word, Papa Smurf and the few Smurfs that followed him went to the evil wizard's castle and used the word against the scroll, causing it to disappear, and causing whatever the word made disappear to reappear. However, when Gargamel tried to use the magic word when he was chasing after the fleeing Smurfs, it made things that the word originally caused to disappear to reappear.
