| - Vatn is a unit original to Metal Slug Attack, first appearing in the Extra Ops titled Halloween Train (as a pre-acquisition unit, obtained by purchasing 10,000 medals). He serves as an expy of Van Helsing. Vatn uses a Gatling gun as his primary weapon, though he will equip it with a drill against enemies very close to him. His attacks are somewhat slow and clunky, making him an unfeasible choice as a standard unit. He makes up for this with his deployable mortars. These mortars deal decent damage (especially at lower levels where they can easily destroy an enemy's base), have excellent range for dealing with long range units, and cannot be attacked. Each mortar fires 10 shots before automatically destroying itself. The mortars act as individual units and will only fire when an enemy unit is in range, though one have them fire immediately by activating their special attack. If Vatn is defeated, he will grab a bomb from his coat and ignite it as a parting gift. Upon exploding, a medium-sized projectile will fly in a smaller arc, dealing massive damage to enemies hit by it. Depending on the player's usage of Vatn, unlocking his forth skill is optional. If he evades an attack, he will use his cloak to disappear, before reappearing a short distance away from his initial position. While it will reduce his normal damage output, it does allow him to survive longer. This can be used to allow him to place more mortars before he is defeated. A 15% AP cost discount applies to Vatn if placed in a deck with Emain Macha and the Subway, as part of the "Halloween Train" team bonus.
