1886- Gladstone resigns as Prime Minister due to rebellion over the Irish Home Bill. Instead of dissolving Parliament for an Election, the Queen calls for Joseph Chamberlain who forms an 'Imperialist' Government. Chamberlain's Imperialist coalition wins the subsequent General Election. 1887- Imperial Parliament Act- Foreign Affairs and Defence issues to be discussed in special "Imperial Sittings", where representatives of certain colonies are invited to attend.
