  • The Royal Library of Alexandria was a major repository of learning in ancient times, located in the city of Alexandria in Egypt. Eventually the library's contents were lost to history. Indiana Jones and Sallah went searching for the Library in 1934. What they found was a tomb that still contained remnants of a library. Fragments made reference to Atlantis, El Dorado and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. In 1941, Indiana Jones was skeptical that the Akashic Hall of Records existed, and his intelligence contact, Musgrove reminded the professor that history books didn't always have the complete information, and cited the example of the Royal Library -- historians had been unable to document when and how the library had been destroyed. Jones countered that it wasn't known if the library was actually destroyed, but that at least Alexandria was a real city.
