Meeting Roderick-A207 and Alpha Team after the creation of the Corps, they were deployed to New Amsterdam. After the battle, Avery did not see Roderick as a subordinate but as his equal and thus promoted the young spartan. But ONI then demoted Roderick to a captain as he was to young for that high of a rank.
