He played junior hockey for the Trois-Rivières Draveurs and scored 138 goals in his last two seasons (1978–79 and 1979–80). Despite those numbers. Aubry was not drafted by any NHL club. The Quebec Nordiques signed him as a free agent in 1980. He scored 66 goals and 68 assists in 1980-81 with the Erie Blades. Aubry played 202 career NHL games, scoring twenty four goals and twenty six assists for fifty points. He also played twenty career playoff games, scoring one goal and one assist. He was the coach of the Victoriaville Tigres from 1991 to 1993 and the Val-d'Or Foreurs from 1993 to 1995.
