  • Art Renewal Center, organisation which is dedicated to bringing back the classical realism style of art to society today, and opposed to modernist developments in art of the 20th Century. The chairman of the Art Renewal Center is Fred Ross. The Art Renewal Center has a large collection of images of artworks, including many works of Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Romantic and French Academic art. It includes some Impressionist artists such as Monet and Manet, but does not have any of the post-impressionists such as Van Gogh or Cezanne or any more modernist developments in art. The site actively promotes the French artist William Bouguereau, and believes that he should be seen as the greatest French artist of the nineteenth century. The Art Renewal Center also encourages the development of traditional painting styles and methods such as instruction by atelier for painters today, and holds an award called the ARC Salon Competition which is in its second year in 2005.
