Yoshimori and Kanekura's excavation was an archaeological event in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and Toei anime, which took place in 1996. Professors Yoshimori and Kanekura discovered a pharaoh's tomb in the Valley of the Kings from the New Kingdom Era and extracted its treasures. The treasures were put on display in the Egypt Unearthed exhibition at the Domino City Museum two months later. However Shadi considered the excavation to be trespassing on the realm of the gods and traveled to Japan to put Yoshimori and Kanekura on trial.
