HistoryText	Protoid was a dangerous, manipulative alien shapeshifter who joined Bad Company in their assault on the 'Krool Heart', the telepathic entity which controlled the alien Krool's hive mind. He pretended to be there simply because he hated Krool, but he in fact intended to supplant the Krool Heart and take control of the race. Protoid killed De Racine by decapitating him with an appendage shaped like a pair of giant scissors. Kano then apparently killed Protoid on the planet of the Krool Heart, but it turned out that the real Protoid had been the ship all along. The entity that walked about and interacted with people was merely what the ship or ur-Protoid described as "a useful parasite." The ur-Protoid gleefully revealed its deception — "While you watched whom you thought was Protoid, I waited" — and attempted to become the Krool heart. Danny Franks checkmated it by becoming the Krool Heart instead and finally killing the real Protoid. This time, it stayed dead.
