The Demon King (魔王 Maō?) is the main antagonist in Smile Pretty Cure!: Ehon no Naka wa Minna Chiguhagu! He is the villain of Nico's story and fights the Smile! Pretty Cure. He returns to his original form after being defeated by Ultra Cure Happy.

Once the protagonist Chocobo, Boco, reaches level 100 and has encountered Koko, the love interest, the Demon King will capture her, forcing Boko to chase after him to save her. The demon has 99 HP, but is quite slow in attacking. Upon his defeat, the player will have fully completed both scenarios of the game. A trick to easily encounter the demon is to set the "move" selection of the game to 1; then every battle will be with the final boss.

- The title of Demon King is used when a Demon becomes the leader of said race and it tends to be passed down within a particular family line. The very first Demon King was also the original demon and the first demon to ever exist, a demon by the name of Omega. Though it's not outright stated, it is implied that the Demon King is almost always related to Dakol in some way. For instance, Omega was essentially Dakol's son and the inheritor of one of the Supreme Ruler's Orbs of Dakol. After the destruction of Equinax, the title seemingly went with it until the time of the Chaos War when a second Demon King finally emerged to battle against the Vampires and their Overlord Haste Battosai.
