Clifford T. Reid is a native of Athy, Co. Kildare, Ireland. He was elected Carlow IT students Union president in 1999 followed by being elected to Athy Urban District Council in June 1999. A civil engineering student, he was the youngest councillor ever elected in Athy. He left this post after 3 year and took up a position as a prison officer in Cloverhill prison. Here he became involved in the prison officers association (POA) as a union rep. In 2004 he left his job and ran as an independent candidate in the East constituency for the European elections. His main campaign was to “Stop the Paedophiles” for which his posters attracted much controversy and debate.
