  • There are also other ways to earn Tech Points. The first time the player can earn Tech Points is while fighting Darkside in Dive to the Heart. If timed correctly Darkside's energy blasts can be reflected. Another early way to earn Tech Points is when fighting Leon in Traverse Town. When Leon fires a fireball, if the player times their attack to deflect the fireball back at him, Leon will be stunned and the player will earn two Tech Points - one for blocking the attack and another for hitting Leon with it.

  • There are also other ways to earn Tech Points. The first time the player can earn Tech Points is while fighting Darkside in Dive to the Heart. If timed correctly Darkside's energy blasts can be reflected. Soon after, when Sora awakens in Destiny Islands, the player can again earn Tech Points by parrying attacks in the spars with Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie. Tidus' jump attack can be parried by hitting his sword for 2 Tech Points, Selphies jump attack can be parried for the same amount, and Wakka's ball throw and power throw can be parried for 1 and 2 Tech Points respectively, gaining an extra point if the ball successfully hits him after being struck back. These methods are considered to be a particularly effective way to earn levels early in the game, especially in the case of fighting Tidus. Tech Points are a requirement for some enemies. Rock Titan gives a single Tech Point whenever damaged in any way, while Ice Titan gives 24 Tech Points if the player deflects its icicles.
