The Passenger travelled in Don Brennan's taxi in January 1990. After spending the journey giving muted responses to Don's small talk about the commercialisation of Christmas, the passenger was abandoned as Don had spotted Joe Egerton in the street and left the cab to apprehend the lad. A week earlier, Joe and his mates had stolen Don's taxi and hit a cyclist before abandoning it. Without any proof the cab had been stolen, Don was in the frame for the hit-and-run but he recognised Joe on sight and gave chase in order to turn him over to the police. On this occasion, he failed to catch the lad and returned to the cab.
