  • Slavery
  • Slavery is the enslavement of human or alien species.
  • Slavery is the practice wherein sentient beings are treated as property to be bought and sold, enforced by violence or other forms of coercion. It is typical for the owner of a slave to implant the slave with a device that would kill them if an escape attempt was made. In the more lawful portions of the galaxy where slavery is allowed, if a slave is injured in a manner that devalued the slave or prevented him from performing his job by a third party, the owner was entitled to compensation from that third party for the depreciated value or the loss of the slave.
  • Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold.
  • Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold, and are forced to work. They can be summarily punished and even killed by their masters. The Goa'uld enslaved several species including Humans, Jaffa and Unas. Burrock's people used the Unas as slaves on Burrock's World until the Unas rebelled. (SG1: "Beast of Burden")
  • Slavery operations provide useful units for the Zann Consortium
  • Slavery is defined as the ownership of humans. It is portrayed in both the Tortallan and Circle Universes by Tamora Pierce.
  • Native people can be forced to fight for you in other planets.
  • Slavery was a practice in which organics were bought and sold as property. An individual who was traded from master to master was called a slave, a slaver captured slaves and sold them, whilst a slave-master bought slaves and used them. Slaves had little to no freedom and were forced by their masters into unpaid labor or even promiscuous entertainment. Not all slaves were traded though; some had only one master, for example Erana Koytas
  • The forced bondage of a person or persons.
  • Slavery is often said to be endorsed by the Bible, or so say critics of the Bible. But the Bible teaches against slavery; slavery is allowed, or tolerated, but not endorsed. The Bible endorses freedom. The Bible speaks of how you can be a slave to sin, or a slave to Christ. The Bible also allows for divorce, but the Bible does not endorse divorce; rather, divorce is condemned. The Bible also allows for usury, but the Bible does not endorse usury; rather, usury is condemned. Interestingly, the Bible also compares the practise of usury to slavery.
  • Slavery was a practice among certain cultures that forced a sentient creature to serve another, often against their will. Slavery differed from other forms of service such as indentured servitude or apprenticeship in that slavery was of an indefinite duration and the slave rarely had any choice in the arrangement.
  • Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold, and are forced to work. Slaves can be held against their will from the time of their capture, purchase or birth, and deprived of the right to leave, to refuse to work, or to demand compensation. Historically, slavery was institutionally recognized by many societies; in more recent times slavery has been outlawed in most societies but continues through the practices of debt bondage, indentured servitude, serfdom, domestic servants kept in captivity, certain adoptions in which children are forced to work as slaves, child soldiers, and forced marriage.
  • Slavery, as Paul LeVal wrote in 1861, was "one man owning another". Often, but not always, the enslaved were "different" than their their oppressors. In LeVal's day, the basis of slavery was "skin colo[u]r or land of origin", but off Earth, (PROSE: Blood and Hope) some species would enslave other species. (TV: Planet of the Ood, Before the Flood)
  • Slavery is the forced servitude of another race. Slavery is used by many races, though some races might not actually say "slave", or "slavery".[citation needed]
  • Slavery is the term used for the act of enslaving another person against their will, forcing them to work for their "master" and treat them like property of their "master" instead of a normal person.
  • Slavery and the slave trade is a growing epidemic in the nation of Albion, particularly after the fall of the Heroes' Guild. Despite being illegal and greatly looked down upon by mainstream society, countless slaves are kidnapped daily and sold to the highest bidder, often times to the Tattered Spire, but also to bandits, corrupt yet wealthy land owners, and other shady individuals.
  • Slavery was the practice of owning a human being. Slavery can be traced back to the earliest records, such as the Code of Hammurabi (ca. 1760 BC), which refers to it as an established institution. Slavery typically required a shortage of labor and a surplus of land to be viable. A ship which transported slaves was called the slave ship. African slaves were often called black gold.
  • Slavery is a system in which a person, a "slave", is bought and sold as property.
  • Slavery was an ancient practice of human labor that re-emerged and remained in the following millennia, although controversially.
  • Chuck Norris single handedly enslaved The entire world, but found it boring to have others do the killing for him.
  • Slavery was a practice in the How to Train Your Dragon book series and franchise that involved a human subjucating another human or dragon to their will. Once slaves, the enslaved individual had no rights. After the Second Dragon War, slavery was abolished in the Barbaric Archipelago by Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III after his ascension to the title of King of the Wilderwest.
  • In its most basic terms, slavery is a system in which a human is treated as property and forced to work without compensation. Slavery has been part of the human experience for most of recorded history. In the 18th and 19th centuries, various conscientious efforts were made to end the institution. While widespread chattel slavery was ended before 1900, most notably in Europe and the Americas, the institution does continue on in the 21st century, whether sanctioned by governments or not.
  • There is some controversy whether there was slavery at all in ancient Egypt. The differences of opinion stem mostly from how slavery is defined . Theory and practice of Egyptian slavery were, as far as we can ascertain, quite different from those of Greece, Rome or the southern states of the USA, where slaves there were wholly at the mercy of their owners with little protection from society, and more in line with the kind of slavery practiced in the rest of Africa. Hem (Hm), generally translated as 'slave' and originally meaning body, was seemingly a person with lessened rights dedicated to a certain task such as the service of a god (since the 1st dynasty) or the royal administration. The hemu (pl. of hem) are mentioned in the context of private persons only since the end of the Old Kingd
  • Slavery is the act of forcing a being into servitude against their will and without compensation. The Cardassians on the mining moon Davonia utilised Bajoran slave labour in the form of captured Bajoran Resistance fighters. These Bajoran slaves were liberated in 2370. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky) Known races and societies that practice slavery are: * Klingons * Cardassians * Romulans * Orions: see Orion slavery, Orion slave girl and Grey Orion * In the mirror universe, the Tholians, the Terran Empire and the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance Those (officially) opposed to it are:
  • Certain slave-owning Southern States threatened to secede from the Union if the Republican candidate Abraham Lincoln was elected president because his anti-slavery views were well-known. (Very sadly the Republicans didn't stay as good as they were at the time of Lincoln.) Lincoln was elected, Southern States seceded, and the American Civil War was fought afterwards as a result. (The North won and the 13th Amendment ended slavery in the United States.) Conservatives will go to any lengths to preserve the advantages the wealthy enjoy, including starting wars which result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people (mainly poor). Sound familiar?
  • Slavery is the practice of enslaving people, i.e. against their will and treated as property, to perform a variety of tasks without the owner of said person needing to give them compensation for their work. It is a seldom-debated topic in Drakonius, as it is seen as an unlawful and dehumanizing system in most parts of the world. All powers on Andoras outright ban slavery, prohibiting the auction, purchase, or transaction of people. Most of Doras Edrossi also does not practice it, but it is not technically illegal by most definitions. The only places that still openly practice slavery in 350 AC are the City-State of Thys and the Village Territory of Folthysland, the latter being a colony of Thysian extremists who still follow the principles of Folthys Dimaeron, who believed in Edrossian sup
  • Slavery is the practice of owning other people in forced servitude. Slaves can be used to build improvements, or put to work on building projects thus hurrying along production. Slaves may be purchased (upon passing of the Slave Ring by the Undercouncil) for 30 gold pieces. A slave has a race, which should be considered when putting them to tasks. The most valued of slave labor, the Dwarves work harder then other races, and know their way around the hills. They are perfect for improving mountainus regions.
  • Slavery was a human social-economic system under which certain persons, called slaves, were deprived of personal freedom and compelled to work. Slaves were held against their will from the time of their capture, purchase or birth, and were deprived of the right to leave, to refuse to work, or to receive compensation in return for their labor. As such, slavery was a form of unfree labor. The most common form of slavery in the human-settled universe of the Post Diaspora era was the infamous genetic slavery. It was outlawed by most of humanity, but worked as the base of the planet Mesa's economy.
  • The concept of slavery involves doing work for a Master in exchange for food, water, shelter, beatings, and other needs that the slave has. Generally slaves live in very large, comfortable houses and live happy ass lives. Despite this, several backward countries around the world have outlawed it, but they outlaw LSD too so that should give you an idea of the kind of people we're dealing with here.
  • Slavery is a controlled business in the post-nuclear world. Nearly all the slave trade in the New California Republic is done under the auspices of the Slaver's Guild, a group of older slavers who decide prices and organize capture hunts in the wastelands. Anyone caught capturing or selling slaves in New California without their blessing may be forced to undergo a series of trials until either deemed worthy to join the Guild or be killed. The Guild often controls smaller towns in which it operates, although quietly—preferring to remain behind the scenes. Guild members wear a distinctive tattoo covering most of their face, making them readily identifiable and allowing the Guild to make fast judgments when someone without "the tat" has a tribal up on the auction block.
  • Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold, and are forced to perform various kinds of work. Slaves are typically held against their will. People can become slaves when they are captured as prisoners in war or raids, and some are even sold into slavery by their parents if they are poor and cannot afford them. Others are born into slavery, as the children of other slaves. Slavery has officially been outlawed in the continent of Westeros for thousands of years, but it is widespread throughout much of the eastern continent of Essos.
  • The Slaver Empire controlled a large galactic empire 1 billion years ago. The Slavers were known as the masters of all intelligent beings in most of the galaxy until one species revolted. (TAS: "The Slaver Weapon") Around this time, a Skagaran ship was sent to Earth. The vessel's crew abducted several thousand Humans that were taken to help the Skagarans start a colony, and serve as slave workers. (ENT: "North Star") The Romulan Star Empire used the Remans as a slave class from at least as early as the 22nd century until at least as late as 2379. (ENT: "United", "The Aenar", Star Trek Nemesis)
