Following her death, her eldest son, Rajiv Gandhi, became Prime Minister. There were bloody riots in Delhi after her assassination. During the riots, Khan Noonien Singh was attacked because of his Sikh heritage. However, he was saved by Gary Seven. (TOS - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1) Her son was himself assassinated on May 21, 1991. Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln suspected that Khan Noonien Singh may have been responsible for his death. (TOS - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1) Indira City, located on Nehru Colony, was named after her whereas the colony itself was named after her father. Another of the colony's cities, Motilal City, was named after her paternal grandfather. (DTI novel: Watching the Clock)
