The Destroid Spartan (official designation MBR-07-Mk II), also known as the Gladiator, was a Destroid fielded by the United Earth forces during the First Robotech War. The Spartan was a versatile design meant to have similar capabilities as a VF-1 Valkyrie in battloid mode but more well armored. It also had a pair of light lasers located in a turret above its head and a gun pod in its center torso that had a third light laser, a flamethrower, an autocannon, a machine gun and a mortar, though these weapons were mainly for defensive purposes as they lacked the firepower to be true offensive weapons. Its main offensive firepower came from a pair of missile launchers, each with 12 short range missiles and its ability to carry a gun pod.
