The 1989 Hulun Protests were a series of student-led popular demonstrations against the Manchurian Communist Party that took place in the Manchurian city of Hulun in late May/early June of 1989. Though supported by certain elements within the government and a large portion of the city populace, on June 6, the protests were crushed by the military in what is known as the Hulun Massacre. Hundreds - possibly thousands - were killed in the incident.
