  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a common English nursery rhyme and song. The rhyme was based on an early nineteenth English poem called "The Star", and the rhyme was often sung to an old French melody. Mozart composed several variations of the melody. In April 1920, after listening to Indiana Jones try to play jazz on the soprano saxophone and fail, Sidney Bechet took Jones aside and shared some of the secrets of jazz and had Jones practice the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" over and over again, until he knew it inside and out, and then could improvise on it. Jones practiced the melody over and over again, and eventually understood jazz. One night at the Royal Garden Club, Bechet called up his friend and invited him to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" with the whole band backing him up.

Next time is in Chapter 6 while Isaac rides the elevator up to the West Grow Chamber. The song can be fully heard at the beginning of Chapter 10 while Isaac investigates the Crew's Quarters Lounge, where the song will be in a loop. In Downfall, after Vincent's death, the song is heard as her lifeless body floats into the darkness of space. In Extraction, the song can be heard near the end of the game; while Nathan McNeill is climbing through the vents. He at first thinks Lexine is singing the song, but since she cannot be affected by the Red Marker, it is assumed that Nathan was experiencing a hallucination at the time. In Aftermath, the melody is played often when Nickolas Kuttner's deceased daughter, Vivian Kuttner, can be seen, and at least once can be heard singing along to it. Kuttner himself can be heard singing along when he hallucinates being with her when he dies after she tricks him into sucking himself (alongside several marines) into space. In the first chapter of Dead Space 2, the ghostly hallucination of Nicole Brennan sings the song quietly while Isaac is in an elevator, before ending by shouting "Make us whole". It also appears on the Bridge of the Ishimura, in the room with the Escape Pods outside the Captains' Nest; two voices can be heard faintly singing it. It can best be heard by standing on or near the elevator platform. In Dead Space (mobile), the song can be heard during the beginning cutscene if one listens closely.
