Trivia
  • * One of the dance club waitresses refers to Connor as a "Friend of Madonna". This is similar to the phrase "Friend of Dorothy", and is commonly used to describe someone of homosexual persuasion. Contextually, the phrase builds on the stereotype that homosexual men traditionally idolize the American pop idol, Madonna; or in the former case, they stereotypically idolize the vaudeville performer Judy Garland, who gained notoriety in 1939 for playing the role of Dorothy Gale in the MGM production of The Wizard of Oz.

Synopsis
  • Ollie is still brooding over the death of Joanna Pierce. Connor has been attempting to console him, but in fact, all he has succeeded in doing is make things worse. Ollie convinces Roy to take Connor out on the town - just to get him out of the house, so Ollie can mourn in peace. Roy takes Connor for a spin in his Ferrari. First they stop at a used book store, but Roy quickly grows bored, and decides to take Connor to an exotic club. Connor is uncomfortable, but Roy feels right at home. Eventually they leave, and stop at a convenience store for food. While shopping, several criminals burst into the store and attempt to rob the store's safe. Roy and Connor easily apprehend the gunmen and hand them over to the police. They finish their "relaxing" evening off over supper at an all-night diner.
Notes
  • * This issue is collected in the Green Arrow: City Walls trade paperback. * Ollie makes reference to Joanna Pierce, who was killed during the "Straight Shooter" storyline, which concluded last issue.
quotation
  • Why does everyone think I'm gay? I don't care really but -- what is it? Just 'cause I don't chase women like Ollie?
