The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season is a favourable time of year that favours tropical cyclogenesis in the basin. The aeason began officially on June 1, and ran until its official ending on November 30, but, as this year proves, tropical cyclones can form outside of the season. Tropical Storm Alberto formed on May 27, 4 days before the official start of the season, but stayed out at sea, dissipating on May 31.
