Research is a New Feature added in Bloons Super Monkey 2. When you buy it, it makes your attacks periodically stronger/capable to pop a certain type of bloon. The first stage of each Research is cheap (around $100), and fires a special attack each a huge amount of attacks (around 40). 12th stage is very expensive, and fires a special attack every small amount of attacks. Hotter Cooldown and Blop Magnet work different than other Research, they work with percentages.

Research also appears in the mobile version of the game, but Blop Magnet and Hotter Cooldowns can no longer be researched as they are now crate abilities, and there is now research for Ice and Storm weapons.
