  • The main political parties are Parti Quebecois, Quebec Liberal Party and Conservatures which all hold major representation around the three levels of office: Parliament, Local, and American Union. The most successful party, was the Moderate Union (called Union) which held a plurality at the local level, members to the AU, and formed the first government, and the second government while being in minority. During January of 2013, the Union broke up and called for a new election and members went to three parties, the Conservative, Party of Quebec or a newly formed Quebec Liberal Party. The Quebec Liberal Party was formed out of old Moderate Union members and with weak membership support was able to hold onto the four AU members and most local councilers after the failure of the party. The Quebec Liberal Party is mostly center/center-right on most economical issues, while being liberal on social and AU policies. The Conservatives, are center-right, and have had success in Parliamentary elections but struggled at other levels. Parti Quebecois, center-left, while popular on issues have been hard to win support at the national level. Better Futue for Quebec is a contisceptic party which has had some success at AU elections, but minimally otherwise. Labour, is formation of three different communist and socialist parties which has been an up and coming party in gaining support from labour unions.
