While warning the Vole family about Cluny the Scourge Ambrose was stabbed by some of Cluny's rats, but survived and was rescued by Foremole and his crew. Ambrose wasn't very good at cooking and later in Mattimeo his title was High Keeper of the Cellar Keys. He helped to defend Redwall against General Ironbeak and his army.
