It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA women's basketball tournament. | - The SEC Women's Basketball Tournament (sometimes known simply as the SEC Tournament) is the conference championship tournament in women's basketball for the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA women's basketball tournament. The tournament is a seeded, single elimination tournament involving all league schools (currently 12). The top four teams in the conference receive byes in the first round, while #5 plays #12, #6 plays #11, #7 plays #10, and #8 plays #9. The winners of the first round games move on to face one of the top 4 seeds in the normal pairings of 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, and 4-5. The tournament has been held since 1980.
