It's one thing to know in advance the trainers were going to annihilate Samus, but another thing entirely to see it unfold. Remember when Yokozuna ended Hulkamania and Hogan didn't return to the WWF for 10 years? There was a clear changing of the guard there, and everyone sensed it. The only thing that remained from here was just how far the trainers could go. Beating Mario would be a monumental, but not impossible, task. Then in the final, anything could happen. The trainers would go on to lose to Mario, of course, but not before scaring the absolute daylights out of him.

  • It's one thing to know in advance the trainers were going to annihilate Samus, but another thing entirely to see it unfold. Remember when Yokozuna ended Hulkamania and Hogan didn't return to the WWF for 10 years? There was a clear changing of the guard there, and everyone sensed it. Same thing here. Granted this match says nothing of Samus's 1 on 1 strength, but Pokemon is clearly going to be a force on this site for years after this contest. Notable here is how no one in the Noble Nine had ever lost a 24 hour 1 on 1 match to anyone else except other members of the Noble Nine, until this very match. We're not far from seeing one of them lose an actual 1 on 1 24 hour match, but at this point people are just using the gimmicked up contests as an excuse to defend them. Crono would have absolutely lost to Missingno if the match were 24 hours long. The only thing that remained from here was just how far the trainers could go. Beating Mario would be a monumental, but not impossible, task. Then in the final, anything could happen. The trainers would go on to lose to Mario, of course, but not before scaring the absolute daylights out of him.
