  • Video games with zombies in them have been able to inspire fear, courage, and fun since the 1980s. The first noticed game with Zombies was "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" which appeared in 1993. Soon, a brand new genre of video games took off: the Survival Horror. The Survival-Horror genre is basically when the video game player creeps through darkness with some, none, or many weapons and fights for their life while being unexpectedly attack by a zombie or some other gruesome, corpse like creature, or a more psychological-effecting enemy. The most famous game series to use this tactic to scare the player is the "Resident Evil" series. Games that include this tactic are "Silent Hill", "House of The Dead', "Left 4 Dead", Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2. Many games also feature zombies as enemies, but not in a Survival-Horror way, or very briefly. These games include Half-Life 1, Half-Life 2, Carn-Evil and Call Of Duty: World At War and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Some games, however, allows the player to be a zombie. The most notable is Stubbs The Zombie. The zombie has been portrayed variously in video games. In Doom the are portrayed as soldiers who were possessed by demons. In The House of The Dead they are portrayed as slow moving creatures with absolutely no intelligence whatsoever. And in Left 4 Dead they are portrayed as fast, agile, and superhuman beings with the ability to scale fences and walls and jump long distances.
