The Clanless were a sub-group of the Drakonus that were generally comprised of petty criminals and misfits. Prior to Rykar joining the Golden Empire, any Drakonus was able to become a Clanless by proper paperwork from their family. The Clan Leader was then able to decide if the Drakonus in question would have their Clan name stripped from them or not. Beings could be stripped of their Clan status not only for crimes, but also for actions perceived to bring shame upon their Clans.

The Clan Leader was then able to decide if the Drakonus in question would have their Clan name stripped from them or not. Beings could be stripped of their Clan status not only for crimes, but also for actions perceived to bring shame upon their Clans. Clanless were treated as second class citizens, unable to receive some basic aid and unable to rise into the various work forces. After the Golden Empire took over control of Rykar, the definitions of what could have someone stripped from their Clan changed, not allowing the disownment of a family member to merit the same harsh consequences. However, subtler prejudices against the Clanless persisted. Clanless, having no family and living on the fringes of society were commonly prostitutes due to the loophole rule that without a Clan one could not be married. With sex being a defining factor in Drakonus culture for marriage, the Clanless became the outlet for the younger and more active Drakonus. It was not at all unheard of for Drakonus couples to employ a Clanless until such a time as they were married.
