- The perimeter of a polygon is the distance around it, the sum of the lengths of all its sides. A perimeter is a path that surrounds an area. The word comes from the Greek peri (around) and meter (measure). The term may be used either for the path or its length. The perimeter of a circular area is called circumference.

Strictly prohibited to the Ancelstierran public, it stretches from coast to coast and is heavily fortified against Dead and Free Magic incursions from the Old Kingdom. However, due to the modern nature of the Perimeter’s defences, it is less than effective against magical attacks. Northerly winds also regularly disable technology. The Perimeter is therefore more successful at keeping Ancelstierrans away from the Wall than it is at preventing things coming in. The Perimeter warning sign:
