Cherry Liqueur Pronounced: suh reez / ah / low / duh / vee INGREDIENTS: 1 lb. cherries 1 cup sugar 2/3 cup water 600 ml white rum PREPARATION: 1. Wash the cherries and allow to dry overnight. Trim stems to 1/2- inch. 2. Put the water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower heat and allow to simmer until all the sugar is dissolved. 3. Remove from heat and allow to cool. When cool, mix together with the rum. 4. Put the cherries into jelly jars and pour the cooled sugar/water and rum mixture over them. 5. Seal and place in a cool, dark place for 3-12 months before using.
