Shimizu Yokai were the bitter, malevolent ghosts of Shimizu family members who were slain when Akodo Giri purged them from the Lion Clan in the 10th century. The Shimizu remnant forged an alliance with the Tsuno, who taught them how to summon the spirits of the slain ancestors and allow them to possess bodies of the living. They were a particular type of yokai who retained full memories of their mortal lives and experiences. They were bitter, malevolent creatures who existed only to cause misery in others. Shimizu yokai avoided combat whenever possible, as their strength laid in infiltration rather than confrontation.
