Hoewel de meeste beweringen omtrent Monsanto reeds meermaals werden weerlegd als hoax, blijft het biotech-bedrijf niettemingeregeld het middelpunt van laster en demoniseringstactieken, vooral door anti-GMO-activisten die kennis van zaken beweren te hebben maar geen enkel andere naam van een biotech-bedrijf kunnen opnoemen. Hun geliefkoosde naam voor Monsanto is dan ook "Monsatan".
