SMX-25 (the informal name of a diving frigate) is a 21st-century gun-ship being developed by the French ship building company, DCNS. It is a hybrid between a surface ship and a submarine. It is 110 metres long and displaces 3000 tons. The submerged body is an elongated knife-like form, optimized for high speed when moving on the surface.
