The 1988 Mother’s Cookies A’s set was a team issue baseball card set. The cards were given away at an A’s home game on July 23, 1988. The cards are standard sized and (like most sets) feature full bleed photographs on the card fronts. The 28-card set features all the active players on the team, as well as the trainers, coaching staff, and a card with the Oakland Coliseum that serves as a checklist. The cards were given out for free in 20 card starter sets and a certificate for the remaining 8 cards to the first 35,000 in attendance at the game.. Collectors were encouraged to trade with their friends to make a whole set. The most notable card is #2 Mark McGwire, the first team issue card for McGwire.
